Remove the traces from the time when the elisp-client shared repository with the LysKOM server and tty client. Tags created for the other products are not even remotely useful in this repo. Also, remove the v-40-1 tag. Keep the v0-40-1 tag, which is more regularly named.

A fix was made to src/Makefile so that it included NEWS-0.48 instead of NEWS-0.47 and NEWS-0.47.1. Judging by the files on the ftp server, this fix was actually done before the 0.48 release was made. It was not committed until a few days later, though. Fix the Git history so that the change appears to have been committed when the release was made.

Based on the distributed files, it is better to change the tags this way than the previous way.

The following versions were found on ftp.lysator.liu.se: 0.39 0.40 0.40.1 0.41 0.43 0.47 0.47.1 0.48 Compare as much as possible against them when running "make".

Apparently, no commits were ever made to it. Keeping it confuses the conversion.

It is enough that stamp/cvsroot-fixed has been created.

Now that we alter the tags in the CVS files it shouldn't be needed.
-

Also, do the conversion from the "cvsroot-fixed" repo, which is a copy of the new cvsroot-extratags repo. This way, we don't need to change the name in the conversion script and other places any more if we need to add more cvsroot-fixing steps.

It was apparently not removed until shortly before v0-35-alfa.

It is really harmful while we are adjusting the cvsroot and retrying the conversion.

This script tries to detect latin-1 and ISO 646-SE in commit messages of RCS files and convert them to utf-8. Only commit messages are changed. The contents of the managed file is not touched.

Document it and "compare-in-order" in the Makefile.

This repo also contains a few tags that belong to the server and the tty client. They seem to not be set on at least some dead files, so exclude them.

These were used while fixing the repo of the kom++ project. The can probably be useful for this conversion as well.

Once you have successfully run "make compare-in-order", the comparisons will in the future compare the refs in order from oldest to newest. This means that any errors will be spotted at the earliest possible ref, so they should be easier to track down and fix. The downside is that comparisons cannot be done in parallell, so these extra dependencies are only added by a manual call to "make compare-in-order".
